Internship Projects
Any
Internship project at Skyland Community High School is expected
to meet several criteria. Each project is:

academically rigorous for the student;
-
relevant to the student’s interests and to the Internship
site’s professional needs;

deepened by the Mentor’s expertise and relationship with
the student; and
-
designed to produce an ultimate project that can be held
to real-world standards by the Internship site.
Some
examples of Internship projects at Skyland include:
-
a documentary filmed and produced for the local public television
station;
-
a fully-illustrated year-long training program for the men’s
hockey team at University of Denver;
-
a reel of ten pieces of original animation for a film production
company;
-
a marketing plan, marketing materials and full planning
of an event for a nonprofit organization;
-
a neighborhood survey and a new programming plan for a local
recreation center, based on results of the survey;
-
a software application to help schools, including Skyland,
keep track of student attendance for a software design firm;
-
a business plan and organic cook book for starting a restaurant;
-
a new jingle written and recorded for a local radio station;
-
a series of lessons on the art of Georgia O’Keefe for Montessori
students;
-
a piece of pottery exemplifying elements of classical and
graffiti art for University
