World Languages at Skyland
Skyland Community High School
Introduction: All DPS students (starting with
the class of 2011) must complete two years (2.0 units of credit)
of one World Language. At Skyland, we maximize possibilities
and personalization by giving students a choice of 30 different
languages from which to choose. To do this, we use a Computer
Language Lab and software made by
Rosetta Stone. Below is some information
about Rosetta Stone.
- Rosetta Stone is the world’s #1 language-learning software
program, used successfully by thousands of students in schools
around the globe. It works.
- Rosetta Stone provides individualized learning to students
of differing abilities.
- Rosetta Stone’s award-winning
Dynamic Immersion method (which combines immersion with
interactive multimedia technology) taps the same skills
your students used to learn their first language, making
language learning easier than they thought possible.
- Rosetta Stone is available in 30 languages—including
three levels of English and Spanish, spoken by more than
half the world’s population.
- Students work one-on-one with the computer, receiving
the immediate feedback that’s so essential to developing
effective listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and
listening skills. And because students learn by progressing
through easily recognizable images of everyday situations,
Rosetta Stone can be used by students of all ages.
